New Deal for Kate Mo$$

From the Independent (UK)
The supermodel Kate Moss is on the verge of signing one of the most lucrative contracts of her career just six months after a cocaine scandal had appeared to end her reign as Britain's most successful model.

Her publicist confirmed yesterday that Moss, 32, is in talks over a deal thought to be worth close to $2.6m (£1.5m) with the US fashion giant Calvin Klein - boosting her earnings to around £9m a year, almost double that before she was photographed snorting cocaine.

She is also likely to be reunited with the fashion house Burberry, which ended her contract following the drug revelations. Then it appeared that Moss, the girl from Croydon who was "discovered" at the age of 14 at JFK airport, was finished.

Pictures of her taking cocaine in a recording studio with her then musician boyfriend Pete Doherty had brought a storm of criticism, leading big-name employers Hennes, Burberry and Chanel to cancel their contracts.

As Moss fled to the United States with her three-year-old daughter, checking herself into a rehab clinic in Arizona, police here launched an investigation - she will hear if she is to face charges for possession of a class A drug this week.

Far from destroying her career, however, the publicity has, if anything, enhanced it. Moss is now earning more than ever before. Her lost contracts have been more than compensated for with multi-million-dollar deals with Longchamps, Bulgari and Virgin mobile - her TV ads boosted sales of Richard Branson's mobile phones by 12 per cent.

She has been voted Britain's most stylish woman by readers of the women's magazine Grazia and this month she is back on the cover of the fashion bible Vogue, appearing in four photo spreads inside in ads for Longchamp, Rimmel, Roberto Cavalli and Stella McCartney. She is also considering launching her own range of products.

Vogue's editor, Alexandra Shulman, said she had no qualms about putting Moss on the cover.
"The fact that she had gone into rehab was relevant," Ms Shulman said. "Of course she sells the magazine, but the fact that she doesn't want to be a car crash was important - kids shouldn't take drugs, and no one believes that more than me.

"The people who buy Vogue don't have a problem, they see that she has made an attempt to clean up her act. It was a huge tabloid story but it was also a huge non-story and not a story that the fashion industry was ever concerned about.

"She is also brilliant at what she does." The publicist Max Clifford said her new employers would have carried out market research to see if she would hurt or boost their brands. "That's how it works."

Nice Work: The difference a scandal makes
Moss will learn this week if she is to face drugs charges, but her list of lucrative contracts is longer now than it was before the scandal broke

SPANISH VOGUE SETS RECORD WITH 1,006-PAGE ISSUE
Spanish Vogue’s March issue sets a new record as the biggest issue of Vogue ever published in the world. With a 1,006 pages, the magazine weighs 2.7 kilos, just short of 6 pounds. The magazine is 400 pages with a 606 page supplement devoted to the fashion Collections, specially bound together. It surpasses the previous record, held by the September 2004 issue of American Vogue, which ran at 832 pages. The main magazine of Spanish Vogue contains 175 advertising pages and the supplement contains 173 ad pages. Spanish Vogue is beating all of its competitors. The March issue of Elle, containing three supplements, has 688 pages and Marie Claire, with two supplements, has 336 pages. A local fashion magazine, Telva, sold with three supplements, comes to 564 pages.“Vogue is by far the biggest fashion magazine in Spain, and more importantly, it is the best,” Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman of Condé Nast International said. The editor of Spanish Vogue is Yolanda Sacristan, and the President of Condé Nast Spain is Javier Pascual del Olmo.
Of course the mags that ship to the US probably won't contain the supplements...but there's always Ebay!

I've been tagged by Theresa on the Five Foodie Challenge Thing. So...here goes...

1. Stop buying coffee on the way to work every day. Drink Tea at work! It is free. I eat yogurt & granola every morning & drink my Pomme juice and my new vitamins are fantastic too. If I don't buy coffee everyday then it will be a treat when I do!

2. Try some of the new restaurants & bakeries in Seattle. I'm like My Muse and find myself going to my same favorites over and over. There are so many new places to explore right now. Seattle Bon Vivant keeps me up to date on all the latest.

3. Cook at home more during the week. I get take-out or go out every weeknight. I can accomplish this buy cooking extra during the weekends and freezing it.

4. Eat more fruits and veggies. Lots more salad. Double order of salad for me! Try different combinations.

5. Stay away from junk food, sugar (except for the occasional cupcake!), white rice, white pasta, etc. Eat more wholegrains. I've already started eating more whole grain pasta and it isn't that bad. I always make brown Basmati rice when I cook at home. I've actually found that quite a few of the chinese/teriyaki places around here offer brown rice.

That wasn't so bad! Now I'll tag Joy, Andrea, Viv & Kim
Especially for TJ!

From Gawker Stalker 2/23. I was sitting in a coffee shop in the west village this morning and Philip Seymour Hoffman’s son was making fish faces into the window. He is absolutely adorable with red hair and P.S.H. and his wife were laughing and sitting on a bench outside. They looked so hella awesome and happy but not in a boring west village way.

What, in God's name, does that mean?
